TypeScript is JavaScript with types: you describe what shape your data has, and the compiler checks your code before it runs. It catches whole categories of bugs, such as misspelled properties, calling a function with the wrong arguments, or forgetting that a value can be undefined, while your editor gains accurate autocomplete and safe refactoring. TypeScript compiles to plain JavaScript, so it runs anywhere JavaScript does, and it is now the default for most new front-end and Node.js projects. This guide covers what you need to start, assuming you know basic JavaScript.
